Two-Stroke Retrofit

Two Stroke RetrofitTwo-Stroke Retrofit

Information Verified by Invennovator:

Invennovation: Two-Stroke Retrofit
Targeted Beneficiaries: Populations subjected to air pollution due to emmisions from carbureted two-stroke engines.
Need Addressed: Air pollution reduction.
Invennovation Goals: To reduce air pollution generated by two-stroke engines found in many public transportation devices in the developing world.
Description of Invennovation: The Two-Stroke Retrofit is a direct in-cylinder (DI) fuel injection retrofit kit for two-stroke engines that is cleaner and more fuel efficient than the replacement four-stroke engines.
Uniqueness: In comparison to the carbureted 2-stroke engine, this retrofit kit reduces carbon monoxide emissions by 76%, carbon dioxide emissions by 35%, and hydrocarbon emissions by 89%. At the same time, fuel use is reduced by 35% and oil by 50%. In comparison, carbureted 4-strokes increase carbon monoxide by 2% and only have a 20% reduction in fuel consumption.  More benefits can be found at http://www.envirofit.org/?q=our-products/2-stroke-retrofit/benefits.

Dimensions/Weight (Metric): Unknown
User Requirements for Proper Functionality: Vehicle to be retrofitted must currently use a carbureted two-stroke engine.
Cost(s) (USD): $350.00
Minimum Order Quantity: Unknown
Production Capacity: Unknown
Manufacturing Specs Available: In a direct in-cylinder system the carburetor is eliminated, and the fuel is introduced into the combustion chamber via an injector mounted in the top of the chamber’s cylinder head. This allows exhaust products to be scavenged from the cylinder using air only. Fuel is injected into the cylinder later in the cycle, greatly reducing the amount of unburned fuel that is allowed to escape during scavenging. Scavenging losses of unburned fuel are virtually eliminated, resulting in much lower hydrocarbon emissions and more efficient fuel consumption. The DI process allows for a locally rich region around the spark plug, eliminating the need for enrichment of the entire cylinder to achieve stable combustion. Elimination of rich air/fuel ratios significantly reduces carbon monoxide emissions.
Other Invennovations Available: Clean Cookstoves.
